Bring Me Home - Cassia Leo

Bring Me Home
Cassia Leo

Book Review by Brenda Wright
Book Blurb:
The breath-taking conclusion to the New York Times and USA Today bestselling series.

"Sometimes, letting someone go is the ultimate act of love."

Claire Nixon is a college student with a past full of secrets and heartbreak. She was saved once by her first love, and rock star, Chris Knight. But when she encouraged Chris to leave town to pursue his dreams, both Claire and Chris didn’t realize it would be the biggest mistake of their lives.

After a devastating year apart and thousands of miles of distance between them, Claire met sexy surfer Adam Parker. With his awful jokes and profound patience, he helped Claire pick up the shattered pieces of her broken heart for the second time.

But now Chris has returned and he is willing and determined to make Claire’s dreams come true—the same way she did for him when she let him go.

With Adam’s former girlfriend in the picture, Claire finds herself torn between the new, passionate love she shares with Adam and the love and family she shares with Chris.

New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language, drug use, and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My Review:
Bring Me Home is the 3rd book in the Shattered Hearts series.  Relentless was first, then Pieces of You, and lastly, Bring Me Home.  I offered to help out a fellow Twinsie and do this blog tour for her.  I was a little pressured as I had not yet read the first two books.  I didn’t know if I was going to be able to get them all read in time.  Well it was NO PROBLEM at all!!  Because once I picked them up I could not put them down.  First, I’ll brief you on the first two books.  My heart was flopping all over the place.... TEAM Adam for sure......ooops, Team Chris.....oh wait, WTH?  Adam all the way!!  OH NO WAY!!  TEAM CHRIS!! YEP, DEF TEAM CHRIS!!  I was making myself dizzy.  Going into Bring Me Home, I was sticking with my Chris!  There’s no way he’d break her heart or her his AGAIN!!

Well there were some ups and downs.  I really didn’t like Adam at the beginning.  Then I did, just not for Clair.  Then in the middle, Adam does something that really made me mad!!  WTH?  You can’t just do that!!(not gonna spoil it for you).  I do have to say I was worried at about 90% and I still felt like it was too early to end....I didn’t get all my answers.  But Cassia did a great job wrapping up all those loose ends.  And the BEST part....3....YES, THREE EPILOGUES!!!  I love a great epilogue!!  But THREE?!?!?!  Holy crap, it was amazing!  This story really hit home for me (you don’t even have time for that whole story) but I was sobbing and blubbering the last 30% of the book.  Happy tears and sad tears!!  It was amazing...  Damn, I’m tearing up now, just thinking about it.  And “the” tattoo!!  OMG!  I’m tearing up again!   If you’ve read books 1 and 2, well then I’m sure you’ve already read this book, or have it on the top of your TBR list. IF YOU HAVEN’T  STARTED THE SERIES...................GET TO IT!!!  It’s a great young-adult story with real adult problems and love and HOTNESS!!!  You know you love a hot rocker with tats!!!  Duh! Who doesn’t?!?  I miss them already!!

Here are a few of my favorite quotes.  I really had to edit them down, I had soooo many in this book.

“I love seeing that look on your face,”  he says as she grabs my hand and pulls me out of the elevator.  “The way your eyes roll back and you hold your breath whenever I touch you.  It’s fucking hot.”

“Only if making me waffles  is code for making me scream.”

“Clear night.  I’ll never think of that phrase the same way again.”

Oh, and Cassia, I LOVE how you embedding your play list in the book as we read it.  I listened to them all.  It added so much more emotion to the story.  DAMN it, tissues please!!!

Nicki Sosebee Book 2 - Dead by Jade C. Jamison

Dead (Nicki Sosebee, #2)

Blurb:
Nicki Sosebee's adventures continue...

Nicki’s love life might suck, but her sex life is great. The only way both could be spectacular would be if her best friend Sean would look at her as more than just a friend. Nicki knows she’s stuck in the friend zone, so she focuses her energies on her job. She’s becoming a better reporter every day, so when her editor asks her to interview a local politician, Nicki is thrilled. But when the politician’s secretary ends up dead, it’s anybody’s guess as to who did it. Nicki has a few ideas, though, and finds herself in deep trouble as she pokes her nose where she thinks it belongs.

Warning: Not for the faint of heart! This book contains explicit sex and naughty language. Proceed with caution...if you dare

Angie J's Review:

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

*pulls out Podium and coughs to get everyone's attention* I am proclaiming my love for this series and ESPECIALLY for hottie mechanic Sean   *leans inclose to whisper* but I am also falling in love with his best friend since middle school Jesse....Wha is a book slut like me to do???  AHHHHH!!!

Ok so this book is about Nicki still pining for Sean (and who can blame her!!!)  She is investigating a murder of a beeotch she knew from school named Sara.  While she is investigating the murder, she pushed a few buttons with a high ranking official and gets an invite to A BIG WIG EVENT.  She goes and is miserable but runs in to flirty best friend Jesse.  They share a scorching kiss and she stops thinking about Sean and starts ti obsesses about Jesse.  Jesse will NOT be one of her one night stands because *GASP* he is really into her!!! He is totally gonna take it slow with her which will make her obsess even more and drive her nuts!!!  This is why I am falling in love with him.  He knows Nicki and her patterns.  He is going to be a long term guy if it kills them both...that is his plan anyway in my book.

The other bulk of the novel is the murder plot, totally was blind sided by the who did it and even the why of it.  I was like "holy shit this is the murderer!!!"   Nicki also hangs with a HOTTIE OLDER MAN....She is very sexually free and not the least bit apologetic about it *hi 5's Nicki*  Get you some girl!!!  Plus she is also dealing with her Sean obsession and his new not very nice girlfriend AMBER *Sticks out my tongue at her*.

So peps all I have to say about the series is READ IT!!!  They are funny, sexy and had a great mystery plot!!  I am totally addicted and will not stop until I have finished this series.....

Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado and has decided she likes it enough to stay forever. Jade's day job is teaching Creative Writing, but teaching doesn't stop her from doing a little writing herself.

Unfortunately, there's no one genre that quite fits her writing. Her work has been labeled romance, erotica, suspense, and women's fiction, and the latter is probably the safest and closest description. But you'll see that her writing doesn't quite fit any of those genres.

You'll have to discover Jade's writing for yourself to decide if you like it

Blurb:

It may be summer, but schoolteacher Anna Silver’s trip to the coastal town of Bamfield is anything but a vacation. She’s on the run, desperate to stay one step ahead of her father’s

murderer and determined to track down the one man she’s been told to trust: her father’s old cell mate, Brent Carver. But when she finds him, she discovers not a kind, elderly artist but a dangerously hot alpha male with blood on his hands.

Loyal to the core, Brent would never turn away his friend’s daughter when she comes seeking help. He can’t deny Anna his protection…just as he can’t deny the instantaneous attraction he struggles to keep in check. But as their passion blazes out of control, a sadistic killer is on the hunt to stop Anna from uncovering his dark secrets.

Excerpt:

Brent Carver lay in bed listening to the surf outside his open window. The rhythmic pounding pulse helped calm the ragged unsettled feeling that clawed inside him. Sometimes it even let him sleep. Not tonight.

He shifted restlessly, sweat damp on his skin. The west coast was getting a blistering-hot summer that had him thanking God he wasn’t stuck in that shithole prison, sweating it out with a few hundred of his least best friends. He sat up in bed and swiped irritably at his too long hair.

Gina had liked it long.

Damn.

He’d spent the past year trying not to think about Gina, or her murder, and yet memories snuck past his guard all the time. Her smile, her giving nature, her unwavering dedication to his undeserving ass. When he’d broken things off with her, he’d hoped she’d finally move on. Find herself a man she could marry and have babies she could spoil. But things hadn’t worked out that way, and no one regretted it more than he did.

He whipped back the covers and padded naked to the open window that faced the Pacific. It took a moment for his heartbeat to stop hammering. A moment for the burn in his chest to ease. At nearly forty years old, he’d spent half his life in prison and would never get enough of breathing in the fresh clean air of freedom.

The dark water before him stretched like a smooth satin sheet all the way to the horizon. But the calm tranquility was an illusion that disguised deceptive currents and gigantic swells, cold depths and wicked storm surges.

That ocean called to him—it always had. This sliver of coast was what he’d missed locked up in his cell for so many years. Not peace. Not serenity. Not pissing in a private bathroom. Huge rollers crashing home. Elements clashing like titans in his backyard. The abandon. The wildness. The energy. Prison had squeezed the need for that energy into a tiny corner of his mind and tortured him with it in his dreams. When he’d gotten out, he’d spent two days just staring at the ocean. This was where he belonged. This was where he needed to be. And no one was ever going to take it from him again. Being caged, being imprisoned, had almost wiped him out of existence, and the worst thing was—it was his own damn fault. He’d taken a life and gotten what he deserved.

He’d been out four years now, but the smells, the memories, the sense of watching his back, was ingrained, tattooed on his brain like most cons wore ink. He’d found his salvation in a talent for painting, enough of a talent that he could afford a kick-ass mansion anywhere in the world. But he’d returned here, to the small remote strip of land on the western edge of Vancouver Island. The scene of the crime and the only home he’d ever known.

Maybe he should buy a yacht, learn to sail. But that sort of aimless wandering didn’t appeal and his parole officer probably wouldn’t approve either. He rubbed his aching neck muscles and headed downstairs for a drink. He’d finish that last piece for the exhibition.

Exhibition.

He shook his head in disbelief. Some fancy-schmancy museum in New York was giving him an exhibition. He opened the fridge and pulled out a beer and popped the top. His agent had worked some serious magic, wrangling that mother. Only trouble was the gallery wanted the elusive and mysterious B.C. Wilkinson to turn up in person to the opening. His agent had even taken care of a passport and special visa requirements.

Yeah, right. He snorted. No fucking way. Still, Brent had learned years ago that it was easier to do what he wanted and beg forgiveness later. Not that he dealt much in forgiveness. Gina’s image smiled sweetly inside his head, but she was dead—stabbed to death by a homicidal maniac last year—and thinking about her wouldn’t bring her back.

His fist tightened around the neck of the bottle and he resisted the urge to hurl it at the wall. Prison had taught him iron control—he just hadn’t realized how much he’d need it on the outside. He headed onto his back porch, buck naked and glad of the fresh ocean breeze that cooled his overheated body. His nearest neighbor lived a quarter of a mile away, out of sight, over the bluff. This region was too remote for passersby and anyone with a boat would moor it in a sheltered cove, not at the mercy of Barkley Sound’s treacherous grasp. The moon was cloaked behind restless clouds that billowed like smoke across the sky. He was just about to sit his ass down when he saw a shadow flitter near the woods.

He had visitors?

No fucking way.

In prison he’d received enough death threats to take serious precautions with his safety. When some of the local thugs had been arrested last year, he’d let down his guard and thought the danger was over. He’d obviously thought wrong. What if it was his brother, Finn? Or the cops? He pressed his lips together. Finn knew better than to spook him and the cops had no reason to be sniffing around.

Something was going on.

No one made social calls on Brent Carver—no one without a death wish. He lived on a peninsula that, due to the rugged terrain, was only accessible by boat. There were about thirty locals living on this side of the inlet, but they were more likely to hand-feed rabid wolves than drop in for a beer.

Did his visitor know he was out here?

Leaving the bottle on the deck, he carefully slipped over the side of the porch and melted into the night. It was pitch-black in the woods, but he’d grown up here and knew every tree and hollow. He made his way along the side of the shed and ducked into the forest. Over the last year, he’d gradually stopped listening to the scanner for signs of trouble, stopped keeping firearms in the house. He’d gotten soft, but not stupid. Silently he dropped to his knees beside a massive Sitka spruce that was technically on his neighbor’s property. If she found out about his little cache, she’d be pissed. He swept dirt and dead needles off the top of a waterproof box he’d sunk into the ground, and removed his SIG Sauer. He replaced the lid and covered it as best he could in the dark. He got his bearings, and found the tree where he’d hidden his ammo. He grabbed a magazine and headed up to the road, circling around. He inched down an old trail and came up behind where the shadow had been.

Darkness cloaked the clearing where his house sat but his night vision was sharp. And damned if the woman—put a man in prison long enough and he could spot a female blindfolded at twenty paces—wasn’t climbing his porch steps shining her flashlight around the place like a laser show. Maybe she was a thief? Maybe someone had figured out Brent Carver was B.C. Wilkinson and sitting on a shedload of very expensive artwork? Then she knocked on his back door.

What the…?

He rubbed his hand over his brow. He was stark naked except for his gun, and now some woman was standing on his deck? He hoped to hell she wasn’t a Jehovah’s Witness because she was about to have a come-to-Jesus moment.

But she could still be armed and dangerous. He’d pissed off enough bad guys in the joint to be wary of anyone turning up in the middle of the night. Hell, no one visited here, period.

“Hello?” She pressed her ear to his door. “Mr. Carver?” she said louder. Her shoulders sagged when no one answered.

He didn’t recognize her voice. He moved fast and silent across the clearing, padded up the stairs just as she reached for the doorknob.

“You’re trespassing.”

She jolted, her hand going to her heart as she spun to face him. “Oh, my God. You scared me.”

Never admit fear.

“I don’t like visitors, lady.”

Her flashlight dipped and then shot back to his face, almost blinding him. She swallowed, taking in his lack of clothes and keeping her eyes north of the hot spots. “You’re naked.”

“I was in bed.” He didn’t know why he needed to explain himself.

Her voice came out like gravel. “I’m looking for Brent Carver.”

“I’m looking for peace and quiet. Looks like we’re both screwed.”

“You’re Brent?” Her free hand slipped into her bag and he grabbed her wrist and pinned her against his door before she could get the drop on him. She went ballistic and tried to whack him with the flashlight. He jerked it out of her fingers and threw it behind them. She felt tiny and delicate, crushed between him and that solid piece of oak, although her lungs were in full working order.

Shit, his ears hurt.

“No one will hear you, so you might as well stow it.” She jammed one hand against his chin, squirming like an eel, then went for gold by trying to knee him in the nuts. He deflected the attack and pressed her tighter against the door, wedging her there with his body. She barely came up to his chin but fought like a wild thing. “Want to tell me who you are and why you’re knocking on my door in the middle of the night?” He concentrated on making sure he didn’t injure her while he tried to check out what she was going for in her purse.

She scratched sharp fingernails down his arm, drew in a breath to scream even louder. Her breasts pushed against his chest, which would have worked for him in a big way if she wasn’t so goddamn terrified. Sonofa-fucking-bitch.

Why me?

He had nowhere to stick his gun so he removed the pocketbook from her fingers and stepped back, keeping a wary eye on her bloodthirsty knee. She stood there stunned, trembling, and breathing heavily. He didn’t think it had anything to do with his dazzling good looks.

“You bastard.” Her chin snapped up. “You aren’t Brent Carver.”

He cocked a brow. “What makes you say that?” He searched her bag, more by touch than sight in the darkness. A cell phone, wallet, keys, tampons, tissues. No gun or shank.

“He’s a respectable painter. He’s not some nutcase who runs about in the middle of the night, waving around a gun, among other things,” she muttered darkly. “Attacking innocent, defenseless women.”

The scratches on his arm stung enough for him to snort out a laugh at that. Her eyes narrowed. He watched moonlight flow over her features, fine boned and delicate, except for the tight clench of her jaw.

There was no obvious threat in her pocketbook, but it didn’t mean he should let his guard down. He needed clothes. For some crazy reason, he was getting a little turned on by Miss Prim and Proper telling him who and what he was. It was probably being naked and within a hundred yards of anything two legged and female, but he didn’t want to scare her any more than he had already. He wasn’t a hound. Nor was he under any illusion about what she thought might happen when he grabbed her. Someone had jumped him in the shower once and lost their eye for the trouble. Hell, most people thought he was evil incarnate and that was the way he liked it. He reached past her and opened the door. “Inside. Now.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you.” She tried to dodge aside.

He grabbed her by the shoulders and forced her across his threshold. “You want to meet Brent? I’ll take you to him.” Her eyes were so huge with fear she looked like she’d been electrocuted. But she’d come to him, she had to play by his rules.

Nicki Sosebee Book 1 Review and Author Interview - Got the Life by Jade Jamison

Got the Life (Nicki Sosebee, #1)

Book Blurb:

Nicki Sosebee wants her first headline, but she doesn’t want it to read “Reporter found dead.”

Nicki Sosebee has been working low-paying jobs ever since she finished school, but now that she’s older, she wants more. She’s a novice reporter trying to learn the ropes. Just as she’s getting her career goals on track, though, her love life gets worse and worse. Sure, she has no problems picking up good-looking guys for brief flings, but relationships? Out of the question. Maybe it’s because Sean, her gorgeous best friend, just can’t see her as more than a buddy. So when Sean encourages her as she pursues her first headline-producing story, Nicki realizes that her life’s pretty sweet…if only she can live long enough to see tomorrow’s front page.

Warning: Not for the faint of heart! This book contains explicit sex and naughty language. Proceed with caution...if you dare.

The Nicki Sosebee series has been compared to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series by more than one reader

Angie J's Review:

I received this book (and the other 7 books ) from the author for an honest review.  Oh friends Honest you shall get.  Ok sooo you MAY have heard me talk up this author a time or two or 500 because she is awesome!!  Her writing is so amazing you get taken to the places she is writing about.  You become the characters.  I mean, I read Bullet by her in March and AM STILL in an hangover from it...yes it was that good.

Well my fine friends this series is knocking my socks off as well.  I love Nicki and how she has abso noooo filter at times......prime example was after her best friend and one time lover Sean kisses her.  They don't discuss the night of sex but she will not let this kiss go because she kinda has a thing for him..wink wink.......  When she blows him off a day later and he says 'Where is my hug?'  She responds with *snickers* "Hug?  Why don't you just french me again?" and storms off.  BAHAHAHHAHA....I friggin love her!!

ok so here is the low down of this story....IF you like action, heart strings being pulled, hawt ass sex and a bunch of laughs then this is a book/series for YOU my friends.  Nicki is a college drop out and she has a bff named Sean but i call him Mr. Hottie Mechanic Come Give Me A Tune Up.....ok I know ridic.....tell me something someone else hasn't already told me.  Well Nicki is working a bunch of part time jobs to pay the bills.  She wants to be a reporter.  The whole book is about her investigating the leads to the story to finally get a front page by-line.   There is a mystery as to arson and criminal gang involvement....ooohhh you say...yes I Reply.  Seriously I cant even begin to tell ya how abso amazeballs this series is....trust me peps and buy it.  You will be super stoked.

Author Interview:

Hello Jade and WELCOME to Twinsie Talk.  We are big Bullet fans but I am the first to read your Nick Sosebee Series. With that being said, that means I can totally claim both Jesse and Sean right?  *Whispers to Jade* Say Yes here…..

I have to tell you I love Nicki.  I feel like she really IS my girlfriend.  I find her very relatable and ME even at time.  Ok I know you are very busy writing Ethan’s book Rock Bottom sooo I will make this sweet and painless for you.
Ready?  Ok Here we go……

1.    What celebrities do you SEE as Nicki, Sean and Jesse?
Funny that you ask, because my Street Team and I worked really hard to find the “perfect” people.  Nicki is best represented by Eliza Dushku.  Sean is played by Parker Hurley, especially his motorcycle pics (if you’ve seen them).  We consider him “Sean for now,” until we find the perfect guy.  We finally found THE perfect Jesse, though—Stefanos Milatos.  Aside from the fact that he doesn’t have enough tattoos (who does?  lol), he is perfect!!!

Here is Nicki

Here is Sean

Here is Jesse

2.    How much is Nicki based off of you?
Oooooh…I love this question.  I am more Valerie than Nicki, but Nicki is who I would be if I could be in my twenties again knowing then what I know now.  Nicki is also the kind of woman I want as my best friend—she’s not afraid of much!  She would be so much fun to be around.

3.    Nicki’s favorite band is Korn….any reason why?
Heh heh.  When I first started plotting the novel and had written the first chapter, her favorite band was going to be Godsmack (one of my favorites).  I had just joined Twitter around the same time, and I started following some of my favorite bands.  Korn was one of them.  They became my first follower, and so they became Nicki’s favorite band.  Lame, I know, but true.

4.    Why do you think Nicki is so afraid of commitment?  Is it because she isn’t with “the right guy”….*cough cough* Sean *cough cough*
Yep, pretty much.

5.    If you could have a “song” to describe Jesse and Nicki/ Nicki and Sean’s relationships, what would they be?
I don’t know.  I’ve never thought about that one before.  I don’t have an answer. :)

(WELLL, I have a song that Jesse could sing about Nicki...ready???  Puddle of Mudd's She Hates Me.)

6.    What fellow author would you love to sit and chat with?  They can be dead or alive.
Toni Morrison.

7.    Are you a panters or plotter when writing?
On occasion, once in a while, I plot, but I’m almost always a pantser.  And even when I do plot, the story sometimes goes in a different direction anyway.

8.    You have a definite love for metal music.  Who is your favorite band or bands if you can’t just give one.
Oh.  I have so many and they span three decades and so many varieties of metal it’s not even funny.  My favorite bands vary from month to month.  This month it’s Asking Alexandria and Glamour of the Kill.  Last month I was on a Bullet for My Valentine and AxeWound kick.  Before that In This Moment and Papa Roach.  A band qualifies as a favorite if I buy their CD without a preview.  Just to give you an idea…I own well over 300 physical CDs…and lots more for my iPod.  Yeah, I’m a little into music.

Thank you soooo much for taking a few minutes to chat with our followers about this sexy series.  I hope that more of our readers check out it out because they will not be disappointed in it at all.  But I have one more last questions to sneak in……any chance we can find a drunken night with Sean and Nicki and maybe a little Jesse loving?  I know I have asked before but MENAGE is really hot and fun reads…..…just a suggestion :)

YOU TEMPTRESS!!!  You just gave me an idea!  (Angie J’s eyes just bugged right out of her head at this answer and is doing a fist pump in the air right as we speak!!)

Thanks again for doing this interview !
Mad Groupie Love to you from us,

About the author:
