Grand Slam - JT Cheyanne

Grand Slam

JT Cheyanne

Book Review by Brenda Wright

Book Blurb:

All of his life, Spencer Hightower dreamed of playing baseball in the Major Leagues. He survived growing up gay in rural Alabama due to his impressive skill on the baseball diamond. Now living in Rhode Island and playing for the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox, he’s only a few steps away from his goal.

Brock Kinkaid, CPA, faced each day with a smile that hid his deepest desire. He wanted to be a father. Unfortunately, the gay men he knew were not into the daddy scene. Resigned to being childless, he lavished his attention on his niece and nephew. When Corey won tickets to see the local baseball team in action, they suckered him into taking them despite the fact he loathed the game. Who would have guessed one homerun ball would change everything?

My Review:

I was introduced to JT Cheyanne by Kindle Alexander!!  Thank you Kindle!!

Now a lot of people will see the M/M genre and think it’s just about sex.  This is SOOOO not the case here.  This is a wonderful story about finding your true love when you least expect it!  Now, I don’t know anything about baseball, so I can’t write any cute analogies.  Sorry!  This book had me laughing, crying, sitting on the edge of my seat, and crying tears of joy!!!

Here are MY versions of Spencer and Brock......(grab something to catch your drool!!)

Spencer Hightower

Brock Kinkaid

Spencer is a baseball player for a local team.  He’s openly gay and his teammates and coach support his lifestyle.  He meets  Brock at the end of a game when a little boy catches  a ball.  Spencer goes to meet the little boy and falls in lust with the little boy’s “dad”.  He finds out that Brock is NOT the dad of the kid, but the uncle.  Spencer is very happy about that.  Brock is also attracted immediately to Spencer.  It’s love at first sight!

This isn’t a story about boy sees boy; boy falls in love with boy; little drama and then happily ever after.  No, this story has real drama, mystery, love, lust, and jealousy!  It has some shocking moments!  It will have to wanting to throw your kindle across the room!  It will have you sobbing your eyes out and cursing the prejudices of some ignorant people!  Great story!  Can’t say enough great things about it!  I will definitely be reading more books by JT Cheyanne!  What are you waiting for....go click now!!!

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

“I’ve waited as long as I can. I’m going to kiss you.”

“I want you to stay.  I just can’t believe you actually want to.”

Spencer’s hands landed on Brock’s hips and got busy pulling his button down free of his jeans.  Brock’s back slammed into the wood as the other man crowded close.  Firm, yet lush, lips captured his own.  Spencer licked along the seam of his mouth, and with a groan, Brock opened for his plundering tongue.  He gasped for air when Spencer finally broke their kiss to nip along his jaw line.
(I know, right?!?!?)

About the Author

It's me! J.T. Cheyanne. I live in beautiful Sweet Home Alabama. The skies truly are the bluest I've ever seen. The heat in summer steals your breath and we don't usually have a white Christmas, but it's a great place to hang your hat. My partner and I have five wonderful children who provide hours of entertainment alongside hours of aggravation. Wouldn't trade them for anything.

I started writing for role play in 2010, and moved on to writing my own original work shortly after due to the encouragement of my wonderful friends. Completing Ocean's Kiss and seeing it through to publication was a journey I will never forget. It taught me alot about writing, about friendship and about personal accomplishment.

I'm currently working on several stories with my partner and several solo stories. I look forward to my next publication.

Laziel, my beautiful angel, I love you.

"Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. Without books, the development of civilization would have been impossible. They are engines of change (as the poet said), windows on the world and lighthouses erected in the sea of time. They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind.

Books are humanity in print."

The Current Between Us
Kindle Alexander

Book Review by Brenda Wright
Book Blurb:
Gage Synclair, international, hard-hitting investigative photojournalist, is preparing for the final special report of his career. A story of deception and murder six long years in the making. After spending ten years in some of the worst parts of the world, he’s ready to settle life down and open an art gallery in his hometown of Chicago. Trent Cooper, electrical contractor, is surprised by the last minute request for a fast-paced electrical remodel, little did he know he’d be immediately propositioned by the gallery’s owner. Being gay in the construction industry isn’t easy, nor is being father to his two young adopted children. Trent keeps his life in separate zones to avoid a short circuit. Will their high-voltage passion break the currents between them forever?

My Review: There were so many great quotes in this book!!! I had the honor of a sneak peek of this book and fell in love with it on page 1 (ok, maybe even the cover and the blurb!!) It gripped me from the beginning. It was an amazing and very real story about finding love....even if you have priorities in your life. Even with those priorities, these two found love. And they learned to put love as their priority also!! The characters are so real. I sincerely could picture each character and "watch" the movie in my head as I read it. The kids....oh my....my kids have said some of the same goofy things! They will melt your heart! and such happy little people despite what they've been through. And Aunt Crazy!!! Everyone needs to have an Aunt Crazy! I sooooo want to know more about Rhonny!! I really hope we get to hear more from her!! hint hint Kindle Alexander....I hope you're reading this!!! Anyway...... you need to get this book NOW and enjoy the ride!! INTERVIEW WITH TRENT AND GAGE!!!

The Current Between Us Interview with Gage and Trent

Hi, Everyone.... It's Twinsie Brenda -- I have been soooo excited to sit down with Gage and Trent. I’m meeting them at the beautiful art gallery – where they met!  Wish me luck!

I walk into the gallery and it’s gorgeous!  I am staring at all of the beautiful pictures taken by Gage himself.  I am in awe of the first photo that I see.  It’s of children playing in a spring.  The looks on their faces...they look so happy.  But then you look behind them and you see such destruction and it makes you think how such a small thing like playing can distract you from the worst of destructions.  It’s a beautiful picture.  My thoughts are interrupted by two AMAZINGLY handsome men clearing their throats...oops.

Oh... Hi there!....Sorry, I was distracted by this picture.  I’m Brenda from Twinsie Talk Book Review.  It is so nice to meet you.

Gage extends a hand in greeting, a grin on his face. “It’s Trent’s favorite picture, it’s why we keep it up front. Come in. We’re glad you’re here. I’m Gage, this is my husband, Trent. We thought you’d be more comfortable in our office. It’s just this way.” Gage slid his hand from the handshake toward his office. They follow Brenda inside. After getting her settled, Gage darkens the glass panels, giving them privacy to finish the interview. “Where do you want to begin?”

Thank you again for agreeing to this interview.  I know you’re busy....

“We’re honored you chose us to interview. Twinsie Talk is one of our favorite blog sites. You guys are rockin’s it. I love to watch your following grow,” Gage said, his eyes warming as he smiled at Brenda.

So most importantly, how are you two doing?  You’ve had some major live changing events happen to you recently!  How are you coping?

They sat at the small table in the foyer of the office. The office door was purposefully left open; the children were stopping by at any moment. Gage reached over and took Trent’s hand, lifting it for a small kiss on the knuckles. “We still aren’t at liberty to discuss most of the events of last year. What we can say is Trent married me last month. He made an honest man out of me.”

The grin Gage gave Trent caused heat to rush to his cheeks and a silly smile popped up as he looked over at Brenda. “Gage has adopted Em and Hunter. We’re struggling with names though. The kids haven’t settled on what their calling us. Right now we’re both Daddy. It gets confusing when we’re all home together.”

Awww  that’s so sweet.  Kids are smart, they’ll figure it out soon.

(I cannot stop staring at these two beautiful men!) How are Hunter and Em?  I’ve seen pictures and they are adorable.

Gage jumped right in as the proud new papa pulled out his phone and immediately showed their pictures. He began sliding his finger across the screen showing Brenda a couple of dozen pictures. “They’re great. Em’s starting First grade in the fall. Hunter’s in Third. He’s the top of his class, he’s a very bright boy. This is when we went to Disney last month. And this one is the water park last weekend. Em hated wearing the lifejacket over her new Barbie bathing suit. Look at this face she made…”

Trent watched it all for several minutes until he finally stopped Gage. “Honey, we need to let her continue the interview. Maybe we could send her the pictures later?”

I love the pictures.  I have a daughter going into second grade. She would fit right in with your kids.  This is a challenging age. You never know what’s going to come out of their mouths!!

Trent just rolled his eyes, but Gage jumped in first. “Em told me last night that her and I are a lot the same. She wants to marry a boy like her Daddy when she grows up. She has good taste!”

I’m so happy that you have shared your story.  I loved how you met here and fell in love here.  Those must have been some frustrating times with all of these people around.  How did you manage to work so well together?

Trent barked with laughter. The question was hilarious to him. Gage just eyed him. When it looked like Trent wasn’t going to stop laughing, Gage finally answered. “What got me through those dark days was the tool belt he wears. I fantasize about that tool belt. I still do. Trent, go put it on for her. Show her.”

That stopped Trent’s laughter as he watched Gage to see if he was serious. After a minute he turned to Brenda. “I’m not putting on the tool belt. Next question, please.”

That’s a shame......I have to admit, I also fantasized about that tool belt....and when you would swipe your sweat on your shirt....sshhhh don’t tell my husband..  Sorry, I’m making you blush....on with the questions.

How’s your business going, Trent?  Has your relationship “news” finally settled down and people are back to worrying about something else?

“Actually, my sole client these days is Layne. They have so much work, I run five crews regularly. It’s about all I can handle right now with the kids being so young and having a husband,” Trent said.

“Business picked up, but he was gone all the time. We made the decision that after the kids grow up, he can take on more, but for now we all want him home more,” Gage said, taking Trent’s hand again.

Congratulations!!

Gage, (Oh My GOD...those eyes!!!  I’m melting in my seat)...aaaaa.......oh sorry, lost my focus again.  I’m really not a spaced out blonde... (shut up Brenda and ask the question – I sit up straight in my chair) Gage.  How is the art gallery?  Do you miss all the traveling?

“Not even a little bit! I’m unbelievably happy here. The Art Gallery is doing great. It’s booked pretty solid for the next year. I’ve just started to put out some feelers for a couple of local anchor positions, but it needs to be local. We aren’t ready to move the children around quite yet. Some other parts of our lives need to settle before we make any life changing decisions,” Gage said.

You know it would be amazing to have art classes for kids....Looks like Em would be a great teacher!!!

Gage looked up at Brenda like she was the most brilliant person alive! “What a great idea!”

Gage, from the sounds of it, your brother Gary seems to have found love?  What do you think about that? And Trent, how are your “big brother” tendencies doing?  Is Gary good enough for Rhonny?

It was Gage’s turn to laugh as he motioned for Trent to answer this question. “Rhonny got into law school. It’s part of the reason Gage is just concentrating on the gallery right now. Rhonny splits her time between us and staying closer to school. It’s a juggle with the kids. Gary’s the least of the problem, except anywhere Rhonny is, he seems to be close by. My house is growing smaller by the second.”

“I’m trying to talk him into moving, but he’s stubborn,” Gage added.

“His idea of moving is a small mansion in Naperville…” Trent wouldn’t even look over at Gage as he said it to Brenda.

“It’s not a mansion,” Gage immediately replied.

“It’s a mansion, Brenda. Anything with 13 bedrooms is a mansion. Can you imagine my shop trying to run out of a neighborhood like that?” Trent asked.

“Brenda, tell him it would be fine. No one would even notice.” That caused Trent to bark out another laugh as Gage turned back to Brenda.

I’m not gonna get in the middle of THIS argument!!  LOL  you’ll manage, but having more space would be a lot easier!  (winks at Trent)

"This is an argument I plan to win, just not right now.” The front door to the gallery banged open, causing them all to stop and change their focus. Gage knew exactly who it was. He’d repaired the sheetrock on more than one occasion after she arrived.

I’m trying so hard to keep from staring and DROOLING all over myself!  These two men have got to be the most gorgeous men I have ever seen!  Separately, they are beautiful, but together...............I have no words!

As I wrap up my questions, Rhonny and Gary walk in the Hunter and Em.  They both run to Gage and Trent.  Em is trying to explain her new piece of artwork to Gage.  This is a beautiful picture.  I see Gage’s camera on the desk and I grab it to snap the picture.  This is one happy and well-adjusted family that has gone through so much!  And yet, here they are happy and laughing.

You see so many “traditional” families in the world with so many problems and tragedies that don’t have love.  I’m happy that this family found happiness together!

Thank you for letting us be here Brenda and all you have done to make this book tour happen. It was a good day when we found you, and Twinsie Talk Book Review. I can see why you guys are growing like crazy!

Thank you, both....I had a blast!  I’m so glad I met you both and tell Kindle Alexander I said Hello.  She’s an amazing writer and I am looking forward to reading more from her and MORE of YOUR story!!!

And don’t forget to send me those pictures, Gage!!
Hugs all around and then I had to scoot!

The Outcast Prince by Shona Husk

The Outcast Prince by Shona Husk

Book Blurb:

Caspian Mort can feel the history in anything he touches, a gift he inherited from his father, the Crown Prince of Annwyn. Devastated over his ex-wife's infidelity, Caspian has withdrawn from human contact except when working as an antiques dealer.

While assessing the contents of the historic Callaway House he encounters the beautiful Lydia Callaway and senses that her home is haunted by a banished fairy. But what does the dangerous exile want? Unbeknownst to Lydia, she's the owner of the last remaining portal to Annwyn—a mirror hidden somewhere in the house. To keep Lydia safe, Caspian will have to divulge the secrets of his heritage, and risk losing his heart again

Angie J's Review:

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I LOVE Paranormal and I read another book from this author so I jumped when I saw it was available from NetGalley.

I love Vampires and shifter stories but i am excited that more authors are exploring the Fae in series.  This book is about a half blood who was born in our world and not in his natural world.  he is mega hottie and you gotta belive it is because he was born of royal blood....lol.
Basically Caspian's dad totally "glamoured" his mom into sex.  he knocked her up and left her there...not nice considering she was married to a human.

Anyway, Caspian goes through his when he discovers his gift for psychometry.  he then is pulled back in to the Fae world.  We see himn fighting and understand why he is fighting the draw to the world.  he meets and falls for Lydia.  I like that the main characters slowly fall in love with each other and dont just jump right in to bed.  It makes for a nice slow burn.  But Caspian has to find a wife.  he needs an heir.  He refuses to do what dear old dad did and knock up a human.  Oh yeah they can only reproduce with humans...yeah Lydia...Lotto winner!!

Well if this summary has peaked your interest give it a read.  you will most defo like it if you like Paranormal.
